The units are on the more expensive side but that's common on island I suppose. However, they charged quite a bit to install my window unit which wasn't so much of an install rather than just sliding out the old unit and sliding the new one in. After about 3-4 months with my new window AC unit it began leaking quite a bit of water out the back.

When I called American AC they informed me it was normal because of the humidity. Didn't think anything of it. A week or so later the air conditioner began leaking inside my apartment. Again I called American air and eventually they sent someone to confirm what I had already told them on the phone. They told me there's nothing they can do and to work it out with the manufacturer.

So for the last 2 weeks I've been having to go through the manufacture who then outsources to other local AC companies and it's just been a mess. Long story short I wouldn't really recommend.

Just had my air conditioner cleaned by American Air Conditioning. Bought my air conditioner from them about 5 years ago. Keith and BJ did an excellent job! Very professional and knowledgeable. My air conditioner runs like new again! I would highly recommend them to anyone! And would definitely buy my next air conditioner from them again!

Great for new systems only. I probably wouldn't use them for repairs. We were in the market for 1 or maybe 2 new units, and also to maintain two existing split units. They basically told us to just replace the units we have and not to try to maintain them because if they start digging around, they might break something and you can't get replacement parts because our old units are about 13 years old.

We decided to just leave those alone and get quotes on the new units. We got 2 additional quotes, and this place was actually our lowest quote so we went with them. It did take a while to schedule the installation, but that's because they are busy. And a busy business in Hawaii usually means they have a good reputation. As long as it isn't an emergency, this place is professional and friendly.

I am a very long time customer. Clayton is the best in the business and their crew is sharp and neat. I never hesitate to recommend American Air Conditioning (Hawaii) for my air conditioning needs. I can't tell you how pleased we are with our living area unit that we had installed a few years ago. Now, the entire house can be cooled when necessary. The units are extremely quiet.

I've been a customer for 10 years now. This is my 3rd Friedrich AC from them. The technicians are great. They're quick and do a good job. The only problem with AAC is that they're about as expensive as they can be. So, if you like spending a lot of money, go with AAC.

Clayton, Winston, and Keith are as good as it gets when it comes to customer service. Installers arrived on time and finished installing a 30k and 24k Mr. Slim split system in one day. Clean and neat installers. Even vacuuming after the units were tested. Keith showed my wife how to operate the wireless controller. Clayton at American Air did the original install in 1997 with Mr. Slim units.

These new units run quieter are smaller in footprint and has more programmable features. I'm glad I did not let all the negative reviews change my mind in selecting American Air again.

I'm basing this review on the quick response by Clayton who answered the phone when I called. Every time I called and spoke to Clayton, he was very patient and listened to my concerns. He sent his workers out twice and in a timely manner to my house. His workers listened to me and were professional. I will call Clayton again for my ac needs.

Lousy service. Woman just rude. We used to use them all the time and they did a number of installations for us. We won't use them now because of the rudeness and inefficiency. They are painfully slow to call back and unreliable.

We would give zero stars if possible. We called them when our split AC unit stopped working and told them it probably needed freon. The lady on the phone said that they would diagnose and service our unit. She failed to mention the service charge. The technician went out for a few minutes. He stated our unit was 12 years old and probably wouldn't hold the freon and we needed to replace our unit.

They charged us $136 and change to tell us what we already knew. They didn't do anything. They have free estimates and we feel like we could have just scheduled a free estimate for the same amount of work. We are going with another company to install our new split AC.

Horrible Experience! Phone services was great as they answer immediately! I called them a month ago for an estimate and they came out to check my property within 3 days. The estimator said he will get back to me as soon as he gets back to the office. A week later called the office to follow up. A lady said Estimator did not turn in anything to her yet and she will follow up for me.

Two weeks later. still no estimate! I called to follow up again and promised to get it by the end of the day! Yay! After a month of desperately waiting for an estimate and to get a Split AC installed. I called them again! Same lady said it was sent to me and to check my junk box. I checked and called her back saying I have none. I re-confirmed email address and she seem to have it right.

I called her back after 4 hours to check if she re-sent estimate. She said she has no one by the name I'm giving her. What a liar?! I thought she sent it or was going to re-send?! I had enough! Moving on and having another company come out to estimate!

I have had nothing but trouble with this company. I filled out the online contact form to set up an appointment for an estimate and I was never contacted, so a few days later I called the company to schedule. They said they would come between 10am and noon when when I hadn't heard from them by 11:45am I called to make sure they were still planning to come.

They said they had no record of my appointment, but would send someone if he was still in the area. He did come and spent about 10min discussing options with me and said he would send an estimate. That was on a Monday and when I hadn't received anything I called on Friday and the woman said she hadn't received an estimate to send, but I should get it by Monday.

I called again on Monday when I hadn't received anything and she said she would look into it and call me back. I never got a phone call back. I would advise against wasting your time trying to coordinate with this company.

I don't understand the negative reviews. American Air installed our split a/c system about 4 years ago and serviced it yearly. Our units are working fine and have never had any problems. They also provided very fair prices.

Most def zero stars. i had the most rudest service with an obnoxious woman, don't know what she is but she's vile. the business is supposed to open at 8am, but the woman did not open the place up till 8:45am. then she demands me to park my car somewhere else or she will tow my car, hmmmm not asking if i am a potential customer first? what kind of a business is this? judging by the reviews they have a similar experience. i have never felt so harassed in my life like i did today by her. i even took a picture. like lady i have been waiting there for an hour, and you chase me away because you thought i was going to another warehouse? who do i complain too about this bullfrog!

First class installation and customer service. The installers were friendly, professional, and kind. Cool air was flowing right away. Highly recommended. Install: 30K Slim, and 9K Slim. Flowing with cool air. Had to put a blanket on my dogs. Thank you for a great job.

I'D GIVE ZERO STARS IF POSSIBLE! Forgettabout it! the woman answering the phone was rude as hell and didn't seem to want to help me at all! are f****ing kidding me?! i told her if she didn't want my business it's not a problem i can go elswhere and i did! found a great business to help me - try ac unlimited! they rock and they are nice!

Actually deserves ZERO stars. HORRIBLE. BEYOND HORRIBLE. I stayed home yesterday to wait for an estimator to arrive to check out my ailing split unit. I was told 13:00. No estimator ever arrived. I called today at 8:45 was told "oh yeah, he forgot yesterday." NO APOLOGY. I was told he would come today. I took part of the day off with pay. NO SHOW AGAIN. NO APOLOGY.

I placed multiple calls to have a manager or owner return my calls. NADA NUTTING. Do you hear crickets? I do. HEY guess what? If you can't do the job, it's perfectly FINE, but PLEASE don't overpromise and NOT deliver. A NO SHOW x 2 is aggravating enough, let alone the NO RESPONSE. It is frustrating and unbelievable that a business can survive by treating customers this way. IF YOU CAN'T DO IT, JUST SAY SO AND STOP WASTING MY TIME! Wish I could at least get a freaking response. AGHHHHHHHHHH

So to update - after a complaint to the better business bureau. American contacted me offering to "repair" the zonaire. (Keep in mind this was the replacement for the previous failed repair) They found alot of cat hair in my unit. (I have two cats.) So okay - I agreed to pay for them to clean and return. The returned unit filled up with so much water that I could see a puddle on the electrical components in the bottom.

And of course it automatically shut off. Same exact symptom as the last time they "repaired" my unit. They asked what I wanted to do and I said come and take this away. I never want to do business with you and will never buy another Friedrichs product. Plan to file a complaint with the national BBB. Buyer beware with this company.

I would put zero stars if I could, but I can't. The estimator came out to my house about 6 weeks ago to look over what I wanted. We talked for about 45 minutes and I showed him everything I wanted to do. He said he would get back to me with a quote. One month later and I still have not received a call or anything. I call them and ask about my quote and the lady tells me that she'll have him call me. Waited a few days and still no call. Called again a couple of days ago and she said that he should've called me by now.

She said she'll call me back. 6 weeks later and still no call from either the receptionist lady or the estimator who came out to my house. It is really that hard to call someone back? Does it really take that long to write up a quote? American Air Conditioning you really suck!

American Air Conditioning treated me like a valued customer, did everything that they said they would do and did it well, and charged me exactly what they had quoted me over the phone. Impatient service, shoddy work, unexpected charges and delays are so rampant today that this company's great customer service and quality work came as a surprise.
